Women United is a global movement led by United Way Worldwide, bringing together tens of thousands of women committed to creating stronger communities and better opportunities for all.

Now, that movement is here at United Way of Southeast Georgia.

By launching Women United locally, we are connecting Southeast Georgia to a powerful network of women who lead through philanthropy, service, and advocacy—while focusing on the unique needs of children and families in our own community through the UWSEGA Child Well-Being Fund.

This is where global momentum meets local impact.

WHAT IS WOMEN UNITED?

Women United brings together passionate, community-minded women who believe in lifting others up and building stronger futures—together.

Across the globe, more than 70,000 women in over 165 communities are part of this movement. Here in Southeast Georgia, Women United is just beginning—but already making a meaningful impact.
Members and supporters of Women United:

  • Champion early childhood development and education
  • Advocate for accessible, affordable childcare
  • Support children’s health and wellness
  • Help families build financial stability
  • Invest in programs that remove barriers to opportunity

At its core, Women United is about connection—connecting women to purpose, and communities to possibility.

OUR FOCUS: CHILD WELL-BEING IN SOUTHEAST GEORGIA

Strong Women. Strong Children. Strong Community.

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive. But for many families in our region, barriers such as limited access to healthcare, lack of transportation, and financial strain stand in the way.

Through the Child Well-Being Fund, Women United helps address critical needs such as:

  • Access to quality childcare
  • Pediatric healthcare, including dental care
  • Educational support and early literacy programs
  • Reliable transportation to reach essential services
  • Resources that strengthen family stability

These aren’t isolated challenges—they’re deeply connected. When a need goes unmet, it impacts every part of a child’s life. Women United exists to meet those needs head-on. Together, we’re building a stronger foundation for every child and every family in Southeast Georgia.

Our Impact (So Far)

Launched in 2026, Women United in Southeast Georgia is just getting started—but momentum is already building.

  • $33,450 raised at the inaugural Women United Brunch in 2026
  • Immediate investment into programs supporting children and families
  • Growing network of leaders, advocates, and volunteers

This is only the beginning.

Why It Matters

Challenges like untreated dental issues, lack of childcare, or limited access to transportation don’t happen in isolation—they compound.

A child experiencing chronic dental pain may miss school. A parent without reliable childcare may lose work. A family without transportation may miss critical appointments.

Women United exists to address these interconnected challenges—so children in Southeast Georgia have the opportunity to succeed in every aspect of their lives.

Understanding the Need

Many families in Southeast Georgia are working hard every day—and still struggling to make ends meet. These households are known as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). They earn above the federal poverty level but still cannot afford basic necessities such as housing, food, childcare, healthcare, and transportation.

ALICE families are often overlooked. They may not qualify for traditional assistance, yet they face impossible choices every day:

  • Paying for childcare or covering rent
  • Addressing a child’s medical needs or keeping food on the table
  • Fixing a car or risking the ability to get to work

When families are stretched this thin, children feel the impact most.

Who Powers Women United

While Women United is a movement that celebrates and mobilizes women’s leadership, its impact is fueled by a much broader community.

Volunteers, committee members, donors, and event attendees are not limited to women—they are individuals who believe in the mission and want to be part of meaningful change.

Because when it comes to supporting children and families, it takes all of us.
